March 2010 – May 2010: In a pilot initiative, ECI conducted 11 Enterprise Development Trainings for 242 lottery winners of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Waseela-e-Haq program. A specialized nine-day program was designed for a diverse group of participants from the poorest of poor communities.

The training was focused on empowerment through micro-enterprise and revolved around business opportunity identification, planning for resource mobilization, implementation and evaluation for their businesses. By the end of the training, participants prepared and submitted a comprehensive business plan against which they will receive a grant of Rs. 40,000/- from BISP as start-up capital to implement their proposed businesses.
